What makes a grand piano different
Many pianists are drawn to grand pianos for their elegant design and the way they allow sound to truly open up. With a horizontal soundboard and longer strings, a grand piano projects more fully into a room, creating greater tonal depth and a longer, more natural sustain—especially in larger instruments. The action is assisted by gravity, giving players a more responsive and nuanced touch that supports expressive, confident playing.
It’s not about playing louder, but about playing with greater dimension, control, and musical range.
