Piano News & Inspiration

What Is the Best First Piano for a Beginner?

Parents start their children in piano lessons for all kinds of reasons. A child may show musical interest or talent, or parents may simply want to give them the opportunity to learn, create, and experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with making music.

How Much Does a Grand Piano Cost?

How much does a grand piano actually cost? New grand pianos can start in the mid-teens and extend well beyond $100,000, while pre-owned prices vary widely based on the instrument, age, and condition. Learn what affects grand piano pricing, what you can expect at different budget levels, and why factors like preparation, promotions, trade-ins, and included services matter when comparing your options.

Why Do Pianos Sound Different? Understanding the Voice of an Acoustic Piano

If you’ve ever compared acoustic pianos side by side, you’ve probably noticed how different they can sound. One may have a warm, rich voice, while another beams with brightness. One can seem almost to whisper, while the piano beside it fills the room as though it’s been waiting all day to show off. Those differences aren’t random. A piano’s sound is shaped by a combination of its design, size, materials, craftsmanship, preparation, condition, the pianist’s touch, and even the room where it’s played.

Friendly and professional service. They sold my piano for me. I left it at the show room with Anthony and he took care of the rest. The selection of pianos they have, both new and old is excellent. I can highly recommend them.

I wanted to thank Piano Werks for the years of wonderful service they provided to my father Jerry, who recently passed away. He bought and sold pianos with them and they were always fantastic! Anthony helped me after he passed sell his … More Yamaha and find a great company to ship his classic Steinway to Colorado. Everything was wonderful and easy. If you are looking for a great place to buy a piano new or used don’t hesitate to work with this company!
Thanks again!

In September 2024 I visited the Pianowerkes store to purchase an upright piano. I haven’t played for several years after moving to New Mexico from Florida. I visited the store with the intention of purchasing a used piano if I found one … More that suited my needs. While looking at the used selection which was considerable I saw that a new Kawai K15 was being set up. I inquired whether the piano was already sold and it was not. Anthony, the Pianowerkes sales rep, quote a sale price which was extremely good. I want to point out that there was no pressure tactics whatsoever. I was given all the time I wanted to try out as many pianos as I wanted. Anthony did not hover over me or try to steer me to something I wasn’t interested in. I purchased the K15 and it was delivered 3 business days later. The sale and delivery was smooth and went without a hitch. I love the Kawai piano that I purchased and I highly recommend Pianowerkes to anyone who may be considering purchasing a piano.

Came in looking for a high-end, within budget avant-hybrid series piano and left with an excellent finance deal. Anthony and his colleague were very professional and supportive. As a professional classical musician with background in keyboard … More performance (piano and pipe organ) and other music-based academics, I recommend/endorse this piano dealer.

Neal and Anthony were very helpful. They take the time to answer all your questions, and we had a lot! Bought a nice used Yamaha. These guys will not try to upsell you if you have a certain price in mind. We ended up buying a nicer instrument … More than we had envisioned because the sound quality truly was better.

We are returning customers thanks to the very generous trade-up policy. Deciding whether or not to enter the world of piano ownership is a material decision, and the comfort of knowing that we could apply our prior purchase to an upgrade … More is a generous perk that allowed us to upgrade after learning that we are in it for the long haul.

My mom and brother went to Piano Werkes to purchase a piano and had a great experience with their customer service. The staff were very helpful in answering all of our questions, especially since my mom doesn't speak English very well. … More They patiently explained everything to her and made the whole process very easy for them!
The piano was delivered promptly and with great care. Best of all, they even scheduled a free tuning session after delivery! We highly recommend Piano Werkes to anyone in search of a high-quality piano and excellent customer service.
